Rustenburg Film Festival Postponed

RFF moves to 11 – 14 November, 2021

The Rustenburg Film Festival organising committee would like to inform filmmakers whose films were submitted, and/or selected for screening at the 7th RFF, it’s audiences, and all relevant stakeholders that the 2021 instalment of the Rustenburg Film Festival which was scheduled for the 23rd September 2021
has been moved to 11 – 14 November, 2021.This date change is owing to the following
reasons:

1. There’s a looming COVID-19 4TH wave possibility during the current festival dates.
Therefore there’s a strong possibility that the country could be in the middle of the
4th wave and lockdown restrictions might be stricter if not on full lockdown. It is
therefore best to pull back and allow the wave to pass.

2. There has been an overwhelming desire by filmmakers from the African continent,
particularly whose films have been officially selected, to attend the festival and
represent their films. Films evoking useful dialogue on common challenges faced by
African countries will be screened, it is therefore imperative for those filmmakers to
be present in order to share deeper insights from their stories.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused, albeit we want to ensure that we give
our filmmakers and audience the best festival experience.
